The Friends of the Marysville Stampede have launched a new initiative, the Golden Circle of Champions, specifically designed to support children battling pediatric cancer, beginning with a fundraiser for 4-year-old David Harvey of Marysville. David, this year's Golden Circle Champion, will be honored during the Marysville Stampede's Golden Circle of Champions Day on September 12, following a Drive-Thru Family Dinner Fundraiser held in Yuba City.
This special Drive-Thru Family Dinner Fundraiser, hosted by the Friends of the Marysville Stampede, is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. on September 8 at Geweke Ford Kia in Yuba City. Community members interested in purchasing dinner tickets or making a donation to support David and his family must do so through www.marysvillestampede.com by September 6.
The Golden Circle of Champions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring children suffering from pediatric cancer by connecting them with the rodeo community. Friends of the Marysville Stampede announced that funds generated locally through this effort will directly assist local families facing the challenges of a child battling pediatric cancer. This support may include financial aid for necessities such as gas money, gift cards for food while family members are undergoing treatment, or help with paying medical bills or treatment costs.
Nicole Rosser, Chairman of the Friends of the Marysville Stampede, stated on Tuesday there is "nothing more incredible than helping the families" navigating their most difficult times. She added that the organization aims to relieve the financial stress of these families whenever possible. In a release about the event, the Friends of the Marysville Stampede noted that while the Golden Circle of Champions program is new to the community, "pediatric cancer is not," emphasizing the ongoing need for support. The organization highlighted that while the program is nationally recognized in the Western world and PRCA, the local efforts are focused on providing direct assistance within the community.
The Marysville Stampede has a 90-year history of showcasing western heritage and providing family entertainment in the Mid-Valley. This year's events will kick off on September 12 and 13 at Cotton Rosser Arena in Marysville. The stampede is sponsored by Flying U Rodeo, a company founded by the late rodeo icon Cotton Rosser and his family. Nicole Rosser is Cotton Rosser’s daughter-in-law. Cotton Rosser, who, prior to his death on July 22, 2022, ran Flying U with his son, Reno, produced approximately 50 rodeos annually, as previously reported.
The community is invited to support David Harvey and other local families by participating in the fundraiser before the September 6 deadline and by attending the Marysville Stampede, which begins September 12, to see David honored on Golden Circle of Champions Day.
