Law enforcement officers arrested four Yuba City residents and confiscated multiple firearms and significant quantities of methamphetamine in two separate incidents in Yuba City last week and this past Tuesday. These actions were part of ongoing investigations targeting illegal drug activity in the community.
This past Tuesday, August 18, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Atwood Drive in Yuba City, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the search, sheriff’s officials reported finding approximately 123.32 grams (4.35 ounces) of methamphetamine. Agents also located numerous items described as drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, and digital scales. Three individuals were arrested at the residence. Roy Smith, 52, and Susan Holder, 59, both of Yuba City, were arrested by Sutter County sheriff’s deputies at about 7:05 a.m. and booked into the Sutter County Jail. Smith faces charges including possession or purchasing for sale a narcotic controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with two or more priors, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. Holder was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, according to the Sutter County Jail booking log. Rebecca Green-Holder, 36, also a Yuba City resident, was also arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail for various drug and sales-related charges, with no further details available on her specific charges.
In a separate incident last week, on August 14, Yuba City police officers responded to a reported traffic collision at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Colusa Avenue and Stafford Way. The driver, 31-year-old Joel Caldwell of Yuba City, was determined by police to be under the influence of drugs. During the investigation, officers located a loaded Glock 23 handgun concealed under the driver’s seat of Caldwell’s vehicle, along with an AR-15 high-powered rifle. A further search of the vehicle by officers reportedly uncovered a large quantity of small baggies commonly used for drug sales, a scale containing a white powdery substance, several methamphetamine pipes, burnt tin foil, additional baggies containing white powdery residue, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. Caldwell was subsequently arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail for multiple violations, including driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a loaded firearm, and various drug-related offenses.
Sutter County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Sierra Pedley noted that "The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and the Yuba City Police Department remain committed to investigating illegal narcotics activity and holding those responsible accountable for crimes impacting our communities." All four individuals arrested in these incidents have been booked into the Sutter County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
