Allen Houck, 31, was arrested on October 21 at Mike’s Mini Mart near Franklin Road and South Walton Road in Yuba City, according to officials in Yuba and Sutter counties, as reported by CBS News. Officials stated Houck was subject to a felony arrest warrant and was wanted for allegedly violating post-release community supervision. During the arrest attempt, Houck allegedly struck an unmarked law-enforcement vehicle multiple times before crashing into the store. When taken into custody, officials said he possessed 28 grams of methamphetamine. He was subsequently booked into Sutter County Jail on several charges related to the alleged offenses.

Houck had been identified by investigators as a suspect in multiple ongoing investigations prior to his arrest. These included alleged felony evading, burglary, stolen firearms, and other offenses. Investigators linked him to an October 3 Yuba City burglary where a gun safe containing multiple firearms was reportedly taken.

Officials also connected Houck to two separate vehicle pursuits involving local law enforcement agencies. On October 11, Houck was allegedly involved in a pursuit with Yuba City police and Sutter County sheriff’s deputies. A more detailed incident occurred on October 17, when Houck allegedly drove at speeds exceeding 100 mph during a pursuit before a crash near the Nicolaus Bridge. Officials reported that the vehicle involved in this incident caught fire, and Houck then fled the scene into a nearby orchard.

A separate incident on July 27 also involved a pursuit of a vehicle believed to be driven by Houck. During this event, the driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle at the Yuba City boat docks and then fled into the river bottoms on an all-terrain vehicle. Following this pursuit, police recovered a stolen firearm from the abandoned vehicle, according to the report.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation states that individuals released from one of its institutions to Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS) are placed under the jurisdiction of a county agency. This supervision mandates certain conditions, and a violation can result in re-arrest, as alleged in Houck’s case.

Upon his booking into Sutter County Jail, Houck now awaits further legal proceedings. The Superior Court of California, County of Sutter, confirms that a defendant held in custody has the right to an arraignment. During this hearing, a judge is responsible for explaining the charges against the defendant and informing them of their constitutional rights, ensuring due process as the case moves forward.
