MIS (Mechanical & Irrigation Solutions), Inc., a Yuba City business, has established the first California distribution center for global heavy equipment manufacturer Sany at its 3199 E. Onstott Road location. This strategic partnership positions the Yuba City site as Sany's dedicated West Coast distribution hub, taking over from a previous center located in Tacoma, Washington.
According to MIS CEO Jas Thiara and President of Sales Manik Thiara, the collaboration facilitates the operations of a billion-dollar company in the region and employs approximately 350 people at the Yuba City facility. MIS, Inc., which formed in 2009, restructured its 40-acre property after its purchase in 2017 to accommodate Sany's needs. The company became a dealership for Sany, acquiring the first Sany excavator in California in 2018.
Sany, a worldwide company based in China, operates Sany America as a separate corporation. Jas Thiara noted that Sany is recognized as the number one excavator in the world in total sales. He observed the quality of the product, stating that the equipment is designed for the American market, using "all American parts."
Sany, which has its main plant in Peach Tree City, Georgia, and a secondary plant in Wilmington, North Carolina, chose the Yuba City location to establish its California presence. Manik Thiara indicated that Sany had considered other metropolitan locations for its West Coast distribution center. The decision to select Yuba City was due to Sany's new CEO, David Nicoll, who believed in the facility and the local partnership, according to Manik Thiara. Jas Thiara affirmed that the Yuba City facility was built to Sany's specifications to make the partnership successful, discussing truck routes and constructing the site to meet their requirements.
As a distribution center, MIS, Inc. serves about 80 Sany dealerships across the U.S. and distributes Sany equipment to dealerships throughout the West Coast. MIS itself sells equipment to customers reaching almost to Oregon, Reno, Madera, and San Francisco. The customer base includes local farmers and large construction companies. Manik Thiara explained that the on-site distribution center allows them to offer competitive pricing and financing rates due to reduced freight costs. They also provide an industry-leading warranty of five years or 5,000 hours.
Beyond sales, MIS, Inc. operates as a full-service repair shop, offering 24-hour emergency service and rentals for heavy equipment on daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term bases. The company currently maintains over 500 pieces of machinery on its lots. Jas Thiara highlighted a commitment to the community, mentioning that they try to stock up equipment for Cal Fire to assist during wildfires. MIS also owns other local businesses, including Valley Pump, JT Ag Services, Nelson Mfg. Co., and Kilby Manufacturing.
Manik Thiara reflected on the partnership, emphasizing that "as Sany grows, we grow as well." The establishment of this distribution center in Yuba City provides local jobs and strengthens the community's role in the national heavy equipment market.
